For the next ten months I will give you my first-hand account of being a college student. The good. The bad. THE 302.

Takeoff: A Glimpse Into The 302

Spring Registration.

It’s hard to think about spring semester when I am just starting to cram for my fall finals, but this past week has been registration for the University of Delaware’s thousands of students, and with that many people fighting for spots it’s hard not to stress over getting the classes you want. As a freshman I was naturally given one of the last registration dates so for days all I could do was helplessly watch my classes fill up before my eyes.

Finally Friday morning arrived and I quickly flung my laptop open at 11am in a crowded hall.. Only to be informed that the server was jammed and I was going to have to wait “a few moments,” but these moments quickly turned into minutes. After what seemed like an eternity I successfully logged in, and with a few clicks I found myself sucessfully registered in every class I had wanted. While I do know of some of my friends not having as much luck as I did, it seems that most everyone was quite pleased with their classes they were able to get. With spring semester scheduled, it won’t be long before I start my sophomore year plans. Yikes!

Study, Study, Study

Ah, how stereotypical of me as a college student.. Sitting in my room, huddled under my blankets as I flip through the pages of my Biology text book, reading about the miracle that is DNA replication. Exams seems to be a daily occurence now and there seems to be no stopping the torrents of essays and in-class assignments. But I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I am to for Thanksgiving break in two weeks. Soooo close, but soooo far away… Time for me to close the labtop (Yes, Facebook, too) and get back to biology. Happy studying, my followers.

Shelby and I discuss with eachother the weather in Delaware and...

Shelby and I discuss with eachother the weather in Delaware and the feelings that come along with not seeing your family for months.. and two more interviews with students from out-of state.

Even an hour had to produce more than a few whiffs of some smells and a view of skyscrapers. Maybe another trip is needed, this time with eyes wide open and a clothes pin on the nose. What do you say to that?

I appreciate your input. Understand that I am also a full-time student while writing this blog and do not have hours to spend on each individual posting. My trip to philadelphia was very exciting for me and I had hoped that I conveyed that through my blog posting. Again, I do appreciate your input and will try different techniques in my writing of future posts to please everybody. Thanks again!

UD's Proximity

For the past month I have not left the confines of the city of Newark which had started to get to me as I wandered around Main Street with friends going to Panera for what had to have been the fiftieth time that week. Without hesitation my friend and I agreed that a trip to the City of Brotherly Love was in order. The wonderful thing about UD is that you could go to practically any major east coast city on a Sunday morning and be back in time to finish up all your homework on a Sunday night.

The drive was quite painless and before I knew it the scent of Philly Cheesesteaks and stagnant sewer water filled my nostrils. After hour of scouring the skyscraper lined streets of Philly we made our way back to UD feeling a bit more at ease with our upcoming week that was sure to induce stress.

UD is constantly offering buses to NYC and certain clubs also take trips to cities and other nearby attractions. Usually these trips are offered much cheaper too. Make sure to stay in tune with what’s going on on campus for all the details on such trips!

A Formal Introduction Is In Order.

Greetings from a hot and humid Harrington dorm on UD’s East Campus. My name is John Rudy and I’m curently enrolled in the University’s Environmental Science program. I hail from the Sunshine State (California)! If I am not sitting in my dorm scouring the articles of celebrity gossip websites, then I am out on a run along Newark’s scenic White Clay Creek. I wouldn’t consider myself a genius, but I do believe that with exceptional effort, anyone can achieve a certain level of success in their academic careers. With that being said, I do have a few interesting quirks… For one, I am a vegetarian working at Newark’s very own McDonald’s. How’s that for irony? But enough about myself…

I am extremly excited to be writing this blog in hopes of reaching out to prosepective students like yourself or someone you may know. Now let’s see where the next 10 months take me in beautiful Delaware.
